Daylight Saving Time

On the morning of November 1, when we gained an extra hour thanks to the end of daylight saving time, someone tweeted, “Getting an extra hour of 2020 is like getting a bonus track on a Yoko Ono album.” Sorry, Yoko, but I thought that was funny. DST also gave me an extra hour to start working on this blog.

And just like that, we’re already back in DST. Time goes so quickly, and yet so slowly. But we’ve made it through to the spring of 2021, with light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully better things to come.

Writing Into the Fall

As the summer starts to wane and the days begin to get shorter, I am thinking about what the future will bring to the interior design industry as 2020 comes to an end and in the years ahead. Over the summer I took on many different projects: I’ve written about topics including E-Design, the inequalities inherent in the beauty industry, leather aprons, the history of the mouse pad, bespoke wallcovering, high-end resin furniture and airport design. I am so grateful to be busy and have so much to write and think about, delving into subjects that are new and relevant.

Fresh Start

The launch of my new website, merylsiegman.com, represents not so much a reinvention of myself but rather my coming full circle to an early passion, writing. As a child I was fascinated with words and language. I had my first French lessons as a toddler and began writing poetry and novels in grade school.
