Daylight Saving Time

On the morning of November 1, when we gained an extra hour thanks to the end of daylight saving time, someone tweeted, “Getting an extra hour of 2020 is like getting a bonus track on a Yoko Ono album.” Sorry, Yoko, but I thought that was funny. DST also gave me an extra hour to start working on this blog.

And just like that, we’re already back in DST. Time goes so quickly, and yet so slowly. But we’ve made it through to the spring of 2021, with light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully better things to come.

With all adults in the U.S. on track for being eligible for vaccination by the beginning of May, people are returning to the office. I have been writing about that, particularly what the office of 2021 and beyond will look like. I’ve also been writing about an industry that has been thriving for the past year: interior design and home improvement. It’s encouraging that so many people are doing good work despite difficult times.

I branched out and began taking on new and different kinds of projects: I edited two self-help books, an academic paper and a tenure review package. I started writing for a well-known expert on corporate leadership and company culture. I learned all there is to know about privacy glass. I am co-authoring and contributing stories to a book on Whoodles. “What’s a Whoodle?” you ask. It’s the breed of my dog Willow, seen here, a cross between a Poodle and a Wheaten Terrier. During the pandemic, taking her to the dog run has been my only social activity and an anchor that has kept me sane. I’ll let you know when the book has been published. Willow is featured prominently in it.

As long as you’re reading this blog, take a look at my recently updated website, particularly the portfolio, which continues to grow. As you will see, I’ve been doing more blog writing than ever. I thoroughly enjoy it because the writing is both creative and factual, and it’s a great way to learn and write about new things.

Happy spring!
